How to play Blackjack
About Blackjack
As with many modern card games, Blackjack has a unique history. Although the game has evolved throughout the centuries, its origins can be found in the French 17th Century game of Vingt Et Un.
The object was to obtain a hand with a value closest to “21” without going over, whilst ensuring your hand was better than the dealer’s.
The name “Blackjack” comes from the best hand you could achieve, the combination of the Ace of Spades coupled with either the Jack of Clubs or Jack of Spades. Achieving a Blackjack resulted in the best payout.
Although the payout structure and rules have changed over the years, the game maintains its position as one of the most popular card games in the world. Blackjacks’ mass appeal is due to the simplicity of its rules and the “you-against-the-house” challenge.

Blackjack: Rules
The object of this game is to have a hand closest to 21 while beating the “Dealers Hand” (if your hand goes over 21 you will bust, your cards and chips placed in this game will be lost). There are only 3 outcomes to this game: Win, Draw and Lose. In all of these events the winner is decided, winning chips are awarded to the winner and cards are put aside for the next shuffle.
Blackjack: Cards
The Dealer will deal cards to every player starting from the right side of the Table; the Dealer will deal one card to each player, followed by one card to themselves, then a second card to each player. On our games, the amount which the combined cards represent is displayed in a small box just above the cards, and this is updated each time a new card is added to your hand.
Card Values
Picture cards (King, Queen, Jack) all have the value of 10. Aces can either have a value of 1 or 11. Number cards are worth their face value (2-10).
